At Chase, health savings accounts grew by 30 percent during a single year. More than 115,000 health savings accounts and $220 million in deposits were added, and Chase has more than 500,000 HSA owners holding a combined balance of $740 million.
This health savings account growth has been fueled by Chase’s partnerships with national and regional HSA health insurance plans.
With the new health care law soon to fully be in effect, there is a tighter control on private health plans offering Medicare coverage to beneficiaries. According to the article “Medicare Health Insurance is a Basic Necessity: Here are the Basics” by Pam Foster from The Atom Stack Tribune, there are 12 standard medicare supplemental health insurance plans available and this can cause much confusing for those shopping around.

Well first of all congratulation America on your shiny new car! As of Monday health insurance commissions will end up in the toilet for us brokers and agents. Many brokers will be forced to find new work perhaps even illegally, this guess is based on the exploits of some of our peers and the selfish, mean things they do the uninsurable and insurable alike. As for me, I will be spending much of next year with my head held high and my back slightly crooked from begging on the street much of the day. (Just kidding folks, I won’t have my head high).

The Ohio workers’ compensation system is by all accounts in much better shape than it was in the dark days of 2007, when the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation was embroiled in a series of investment scandals. The recent successes, as well as continuing controversies, have kept the Ohio workers’ comp system in the headlines and made it one of the most covered stories in Insurance Journal‘s Midwest region in 2010.
In October, Ohio’s progress in reducing costs for Ohio employers was recognized in a national study.
The Obama administration released Tuesday new proposed rules that Health insurance companies seeking a rate increase of 10 percent or more in 2011 must publicly explain why the increase is needed. Under this new proposal, the highlighted premium rate increases would be subject to review by the states or in some cases the federal government to make a decision if they are fair or not. Soon to come, each individual state will get their percentage rates adjusted by the Department of Health and Human Services.
Most Americans agree that all children need to have access to excellent health care without devastating struggling families. The government has helped tremendously with this over the years. Health insurance isn’t cheap, especially for those with pre-existing conditions, but a lot has been done to ensure children are protected.
The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a government sponsored program financed at the state and federal level to expand health care to uninsured children in low income families not eligible for Medicaid. Most children covered by CHIP are enrolled in managed care health plans that contract with states to offer coverage.
Many would agree this plan is successful as it helps our innocent children who deserve quality health care. CHIP
